*From Fiber to Finish: High‑Performance Biobased Fire Retardants with Sustainable, Clean Chemistry

This session introduces a new class of high performance biobased fire retardants engineered through clean chemistry formulations that integrate seamlessly from fiber to finish, using scalable aqueous processing, non toxic crosslinking, and sustainable hydrophilic–hydrophobic balance systems.
Drawing from our work in textiles and nonwovens, we demonstrate how these formulations deliver Class A–level flame resistance, durable char formation, and low smoke performance we demonstrate scalable, aqueous processes that deliver strong flame resistance without halogens,chlorinated paraffins, or toxic additives.
Data from woven, knit, ,nonwoven, composities, panel boards trials highlight how biobased FR chemistry can meet stringent performance requirements while reducing environmental load, improving worker safety, and enabling circularity in manufacturing.
